Dear Parents & Guardians, I hope this message finds you well!
My name is Kim Harter, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new librarian at Russell Ranch. It is truly a privilege to be a part of this vibrant learning community, and I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to inspire and nurture a love of reading in our students.
Books open doors to imagination, critical thinking, and lifelong learning and my goal this year is to make the library a welcoming and exciting place where all students can discover the joy of reading. Whether your child is already an avid reader or just beginning their reading journey, I am committed to supporting them every step of the way.
To help foster a culture of reading, I will be introducing a variety of engaging incentives and programs throughout the year, including:
- Monthly Reading Challenges with small rewards for participation
- "Reader of the Month" Recognition to celebrate student dedication and improvement.
- Book Raffles and Prizes for students who check out and review books
- Junior Librarian Program for students who want to help out in the library
- Themed Library Days to explore different genres and cultures through stories
These initiatives are designed to motivate students while making reading fun, accessible, and meaningful. I also welcome any suggestions or contributions from families to help tailor these efforts to our students' interests.
Please feel free to reach out to me at kharter@fcusd.org with any questions, ideas, or if you'd like to get involved in library activities. I truly believe that when we work together, we can build a strong community of readers who grow not only in knowledge but in empathy, creativity, and confidence.
Thank you for your continued support. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year filled with stories, growth, and imagination!
Warm regards,
Kim Harter
